Does anyone live in/around this area? I'm looking at a home that is near the intersection of Ortega Blvd & Yacht Club. I don't see much public space in that area (parks, river access) or businesses when I look at the map. I am not in the area right now, so could anyone tell me what it's like?

Thanks a million!

There are parks galore in and near Ortega. Stockton Park is on Ortega Blvd in front odf St. Marks, another on McGirts Blvd...a park that's on the Lakeside side of the Ortega Bridge, Cortez Park in Ortega Village...Boone Park in Avondale, Memorial Park and Riverside Park in Riverside and there's a park on US 17, Roosevelt Blvd. that's right across from the main gate of NAS...I just can't remember its name right now!!

As for river acces...if your a member of the Yacht Club or Timmaquana it's just down the street from you...if not I believe there's a public boat ramp on Ortega Farms Blvd into McGirts Creek if you need a boat ramp. Now we do have a river walk downtown and 3 of the parks I just mentioned are on the river.

Businesses are all around you too. Roosevelt Square is about 2 miles north on Roosevelt Blvd and you'll find businesses all up and down Roosevelt. Ortega Village has a bank, Carter's pharmacy, and more. Up in Avondale there's Avondale Shopping Center with wonderful restaurants, boutiques, Open Road bikes, hair salons, a spa, jewelry stores, etc. Then in there's more at Park and King and 5 Points...all of these areas are within 10 minutes of the corner of YCR and the Blvd.

PM me if you'd like...I grew up in the area and will help you all I can! Welcome to Jax!!
