I would like to put in a solid surface counter in my master bath (and maybe put in a new vanity). Does anyone have a handyman they have used that you could recommend?

I have a certain method of finding professional work people. Sometimes there is a specific job around the house that I would prefer not to tackle myself. I find a house in the neighborhood that is under construction, locate the foreman in charge and ask him to recommend me someone. He always knows people who do good work and today there are a whole lot of people in the business looking for work on the side.

That's a good idea, but there are no houses under construction in my neighborhood.

Be careful some guy gave me his card in Home Depot parking lot (had a sign on his truck) and I threw it out anyway.

3 days later I saw him on the registered sex offender site living a couple streets over!!!

You can go to Lowes and Home Depot they have a list of contractors. You can make sure they are licensed and whatever else the state has, probably you want to make sure they are insured and bonded, even for a small job. (I'm new here)

I second Runswithscissors on making sure they are insured. When you let a handyman near your plumbing, it only takes one small mistake to have a big disaster....been there, done that, glad they had insurance . Consequently, I don't use handymen anymore for anything remotely related to water !
