Default Moving to Jacksonville

My wife and I are moving to Jacksonville this summer and are in need of advice as to a safe and clean apartment complex in which to live while we search for a house or condo to buy. Does anyone know of any particular areas in which we should or should not live? I would really be appreciative of any specifics that might be offered. In our brief search thus far, it has become apparent that we would porbably like to live in the Southside or Mandarin areas -- though we would not be certainly not be opposed to living near the beach so long as the area was safe and reasonably quiet at night. Thaks for your help!

You can find nice/private apartments along southside blvd (south). before crossing the Butler blvd.. also along the interstate 9A coming from south, there are newly built apartment/condos. If you prefer close to the beaches, select the east part of Atlantic Blvd. or Beach Blvd (2 to 5 miles close to the beaches). I don't recommend the apartments at Mandarin. The pleasant ones are located along Old St. Augustine Rd but this road has been too crowded and traffic is busy during the normal hours.

Try some of the apartments around the Hodges Blvd area in Jax, and maybe Condo rentals in Ponte Vedra Beach. I think those are some of the safest, cleanest areas.
