Default College "Kids" are just about moved in!

Well, we just returned late last night from our trip to Jacksonville. We took 2 days to drive down, completely set up my sons' apartment on Saturday, Rented Jet Skiis from Atlantic Power on Sunday, Driver's License and fully registered at FCCJ and started applying for jobs on Monday, reviewed all the online "stuff" on Tuesday and left him there Tuesday night. In between all that we 1)had our first encounter with 2 palmettos - OH MY GOD!!! 2)were a bit taken back that a fairly new SUV was broken into at Publix (San Pablo/Beach) in broad daylight - smashed the driver's window in an attempt to steal a child's DVD player that had security cables 3)understand that some folks drive a bit slower than we do up North, but who cares 4)felt comfortable and cannot wait to go back down next month.

Yes, there's quite a bit on ongoing road construction (Beaches/Keirnan, Hodges, etc.), but upgrading highway infrastructure was needed, so you just need to deal with it. We had a great weekend again and let me re-iterate that everyone was sooooo nice to us! We're really looking forward to returning for a visit next month!

MaryAnn

I'm somewhat more shocked that someone used locks on portable dvd player, in the car. Great idea, but wow.

But hey, welcome to JAX!

That is something that does happen here - you do not want to leave anything worth stealing visible in the car - not laptops, DVD players, cell phones - they will break in to get it .

How stupid were those people?? Why bother locking it up? Why not just put it out of view? Throw a towel over it if you really can't put it away .
