Default BEST Seafood restaurant and market in Jax

I actually live in Jax and I am trying to find some good fresh seafood restaurants. I've had a really hard time finding something local and fresh. I've been to Parson's in Jax Beach and I thought the food was great because you can get more that just fried fish. I've been to Singletons in Mayport (I don't know if I spelled either name correctly) but I wasn't thrilled by it. Where can I go to get good seafood? Where can I go other than Safe Harbor to buy fresh seafood? help!!

Tough one....

Aside from buying it fresh yourself and cooking it at home, I think most of the restaurants offer fresh flash frozen stuff .

I haven't been there, but there is the new Mitchell's Seafood Market in the Saint Johns Town Center. They sell the fish as well as being a restaurant. You'd have to inquire with them whether their fish is frozen or not (or maybe someone here on the forum knows ).

They sell international fishes that they flown in, sounds like a fancy way to describe frozen fish that gets shipped in. But deep frozen fishes can taste just as fresh as it was right out of the sea.

There is a great seafood restaurant new to town called "The Crabcake Factory". They have an extensive menu and if you are a blue crab lover you will love this place. They also serve many other dishes. Also, Betty Jeans out Ponte Vedra is a great place to eat. As far as a good seafood market, Safe Harbor is the best in this area that I know of.

There are plenty of restaurants here that have good seafood, it really should not be hard to find one, there are two fshbones restaurants here for crying out loud and a roy's, and all the steakhouses serve seafood. Also join a club if you can afford it, all of the private clubs have good restaurants, PVIC and FYC have great seafood chefs. I do believe i heard about another seafood market in town, too...

Mayport shrimp from Publix!! And if you boil it DON'T! I put the shrimp in the pot with some Old Bay, water and let it stand in the refrigerator for an hour or 2 before I just heat it until the shrimp are pink....but never, NEVER boil shrimp. The meat is too delicate and boiling them just makes for rubbery shrimp!

If you haven't tried The Bridge Waterfront Bistro on the Intracoastal in Ponte Vedra you haven't lived. The seafood is delivered fresh everyday and cooked to absolute perfection. This place will blow you away!
Try Fishermans Dock in Mandarin for market seafood....super fresh, large selection.

I dont't know if it's the best, but it's fresh with a market inside...that is The Fish Company in Atlantic Beach, just east of Penman Road.
