Living in or near 32202
hello, I am looking for an apartmt in the Downtown Jax area, in the 32202 zip, can someone recommend a few locations I can check out. thanks
Hello, moving from a big town, would like to move into an area where I don't have to go out my way to do things, (shop, go out, etc.) I was looking at downtown but was kinda swayed away. Just want to move into an area where things are within reach and has a nice nightlife. I think I may be asking for too much being that this is jacksonville lol, help I will be in town soon and will be searching in person......thx

Is Downtown the only location you are considering? And if so, is there a particular reason?

Just want to be as close to downtown life a possible, I am from a big city, so downtown seems right, a place where things aren't too far beyond my reach. I figure Downtown

Ok. The reason why I ask is because after work hours, our Downtown is a ghost town. Not really the "happening place" to be. There are also not a whole lot of options as far as "everyday items" type shopping either. You might want to start a new thread outlining what you want in a place to live and we would be able to help you further.
Good idea, Apanda. Here's the new thread so we don't hijack the other one.

Here is a good thread that gives pros-cons of two neighborhoods that might fit what you're looking for. Hope it helps and good luck with your search!

You might want to look into the Southbank.
There is some new construction hi rise condos/apartments that would be right across the water from your work location (commute would be about 5 minutes). Check into The Peninsula and The Strand to get an idea of the area I'm taking about (they are in zip 32207/San Marco zip).
The Southbank is just north of San Marco Square and the area in between the Square and the Southbank is starting to merge into one area. Meaning, the restaurants, shops and businesses of San Marco Square are spreading northwards towards the Southbank. You'd still have to drive to a grocery store, but you can walk or bike to many other places.

Oh yes, Southbank is a better recommendation than I made earlier, especially if you want to feel like you're downtown without being downtown. I just had dinner with my wife on Saturday at the new Thai restaurant down there and it was extremely good. Now that more housing has come to that area, the retail shops appear to be following.
If you want a night out, you can start in your own neighborhood. Then take a 5-10 minute walk to catch a ferry that takes you across the river to downtown. No car needed. (Might need a taxi to get home because I don't believe the ferry runs very late.)
One thing you should know about this area. When the wind is blowing the right way, you will get a noticeable smell from the Maxwell House coffee factory on the north side of the river. I know it's Maxwell House, but you don't have to drink it, you just have to smell it. And most people like the smell of coffee so it's not a big deal for most.

lol hmm I think I will pass on the Maxwell, I'm a starbucks kinda girl. The tips have been great but the strand is (coughing) pricey. I'll keep looking...
