I was just wondering, do the leaves change color in north florida ? I live in Georgia and the leaves are changing here, but not nearly as much as up north.

The native maples change color then the leaves drop off. I guess if you found a large stand of them, it would be fall-worthy, but they're usually mixed in with evergreens, so the maple color gets lost .

I just planted a Florida Flame Maple tree in my backyard this year so I can watch the color change .

Actually if we get a couple of freezes I have seen the leaves on the Bradford Pears change colors
the ones along Gate Parkway had a nice tinge of color last year before they fell off

Persimmon fruit is beautiful .

If someone wanted to plant for fall color on their property, here are some other trees and shrubs you can plant for color:

*Crape Myrtle - especially the Natchez variant
*Maples of any kind
*Redbud - Forest Pansy variant is a beauty
*Staghorn Sumac
*Blueberry bushes - great color!
*Oakleaf Hydrangea

And where are all the squirrels? Right about now they should be scurrying around. Guess they don't need to hoard. I think they are just staying away from acorns this year ... acorns have a bad reputation anyway. LOL.
