Hi there! I live in St. Johns County (south St. Augustine), and I am looking for a doctor (a family physician/general practitioner, or whatever the correct terminology). Does anyone have a doctor near here that they can recommend, or, conversely, warn me away from? All I have is a pretty long list that my insurance policy (BCBS) accepts. I'm getting ready to throw darts at the names to figure out where to go first, but I thought I'd check here first.

Depending on your insurance, I suggest you log onto the website of a hospital that is nearest to where you live and research a doctor that is affiliated with that hospital. Hospitals generally post a list of associated physicians including their specialty, bio, training, etc. Personally I think it is important to have a doctor and hospital in the same network in your own community where you don't always have to drive way across town.

Being somewhere in St. Johns you'll be looking at Flagler or Baptist but that's where I would start.

Well, that's a good approach. I'm not far from Flagler Hospital, and I've visited the walk-in clinic near there for basic illnesses (flu, bronchitis, etc.). But I was hoping that someone had a family doctor they really felt comfortable with and wouldn't mind recommending. I just need someone I feel comfortable with in terms of getting a physical once a year, etc.
