Another thing...I see people keep saying religion is wrong and all this crap. Man look, my opinion is 2 dudes together is nasty. Has nothing to do with GOD. How I feel is "how I feel" I voted on how I felt, not what I read in the bible. Since people now have to "justify" their vote then fine, I will. People can't hide their race, but for years homosexuals have hid. If it is sooooo right? Why are you hiding? Why is it called "coming out"? Why can't I go outside butt azz naked? I have a nice package why can't I walk around and show it off? BECAUSE the rules say I CAN NOT. Who made the rules? THE PEOPLE. whites, blacks, men, women, jews, gays, str8s. Everyone has a say, that is why we vote on things.

You got that right. No more Fl vacations for me. I'd like to see how quickly they change their tune after a gay boycott. If they think their economy is bad now ...

Oh, no! FL tourism is going to be reduced by...ONE! How EVER will our state survive?
Well, at least gays can go vacation in a more tolerant state like CA. Wait a minute...CA just voted to ban gay marriage! Well, at least there are other warm friendly climes that allow gay marriage such as...um...well...OK, never mind.
Look, Disneyworld still has "Gay Days", Pensacola still has its "Gay Spring Break", and South Beach and Key West still have...well, every day. You harbor major delusions of grandeur if you think those will change any time soon. If I were a betting man, I would wager that gays will keep coming to FL for the same reasons they've been coming to FL for years.
The state outlawed gay marriage by law decades ago, and putting it in the state constitution doesn't change a thing for day-to-day life here. The day before Amendment 2 was voted on, gay marriage was illegal in FL. The day after Amendment 2 was voted on, gay marriage was still illegal in FL. Even if Amendmet 2 had failed, gay marriage would have still been illegal in FL by law (just not by constitutional amendment)!
So could we please stop with the drama queen show and move on? Your lives are no different today than they were last week, last month, or last year!

I guess folks are only intelligent when they vote the way you want them to, right?

The majority doesn't really elect the US President. Cite Al Gore winning the majority popular vote in 2000, but losing the election.
What most people do not realize when they fill their ballot is that they are not voting for who will be the President, but rather, their vote is to decide the political party that will choose the state's representatives to the US Electoral College. These delegates, in turn, will participate in the actual election to decide who will become the next President of the United States.
The Electoral College was defined by our founding fathers in the US Constitution, Article II, Section 1. As originally written, each state was to elect a number of Electoral College representatives equal to their number of US Representatives and Senators. For example, the state of Kansas has two Senators and three Representatives, thus, Kansas would receive five electoral voters. As each state has two Senators and at least one US Representative; each state chooses a minimum of three electoral members.
By a similar token, in my opinion, I don't think the majority should decide the fate of a minority groups' rights.

JJ, I didn't need a civics lesson. It was completely beside my point. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm well versed in civics and political science. But in case anyone else here didn't know what JJ typed about, then go ahead and thank JJ for the refresher course.
When I said "majority", I was talking about elections in general but the 2008 election in particular. In 2008, as in 2004, one person won a majority of both popular and electoral votes.
My point was that there are a large number of people who hailed the "majority" in their vote for president. These folks considered the "majority" to be smart, able to see through perceived "lies" and "fear-mongering". Yet when the majority rejected gay marriage, all of a sudden the same folks who had just hailed the "majority" as smart NOW consider that same majority to be a bunch of rubes.
In other words, people are apparently smart only when they vote the way you want them to vote. When they don't vote your way, I guess they're not smart anymore...until the next time they do vote your way.

Gradco2004, you keep quoting all these wonderful people. But my main question is this, it was the black turnout in states like CA and here and all over that overwhemlingly voted for traditional marriage and against gay marriage. This was like a 75-25 ratio, whites and Hispanics were more 50-50. On top of this, blacks really showed up on election day, so much so that while this was not a record turnout by any means, even less new voters, there were so many black voters. It can clearly be argued that blacks are pretty much to blame for preventing this "right." It is almost ironic, because while they fought and successfully won their civil rights decades ago, here they are "preventing" a civil right for gays. My question is, why do all the gays continue to lamabash white Christian traditionalist groups without even questioning black churches or the black population in general?
My guess is a fear of the loss of political correctness power.
And frankly, knowing how many of these protesters are, this cross thing happened to be caught on tape, I can bet you anything, my life even, that that kind of over and hateful protesting is going on all over the place. I do not want to embarass myself and be associated in any way. By the way, since when does a ban on gay marriage mean a ban on civil unions?

And all these months I thought you were a smart person Rick. I have enjoyed an 11 year relationship with my husband to be, and now I live hundreds of miles inland, with cold weather. Oh yeah, I am gay too. So I don't see the point of your statement. Oh well, at least I was smart enough that I left SoFl when I did, while all you do is complain about it and feel miserable about your live down there.

Are you serious?? You think that two dudes together is nasty, but I bet you'd change your mind if it were two girls together. In fact, you'd probably find two girls together a bit erotic. What if those two girls were in love with each other? Too bad... you just voted their rights away, too...
I guess it's all good, as long as it's all in the name of entertainment! That's just as pathetic as buying a black singer's CD, but voting to take away their civil liberties. I'm so over this kind of ignorance.
