If you want warm winters and NO SNOW, you came to the right place. It was 87 degrees yesterday, and probably with the humidity, it may have hit 90. And it's November!

Loveboating,
Our situations are quite similar. My wife and I moved here back in Feb. from the Dayton, OH area not having visited beforehand. It's just the two of us (well, four if you count the dogs) and we also enjoy boating; the abundance of boating opportunities was a huge factor in our decision. I was able to transfer with work, the wife quit her job and has since found employment in retail management (her educational background is equivalent to your wife's). We settled on the Mandarin area and couldn't be happier. I'm not sure I would recommend moving anywhere without visiting first (though it did work out for us), but it sounds like you have done your due diligence so you should be ok. As previously mentioned, the summer is hot and humid ..... and long - your boat is going to be very happy. Judging by what I've seen so far the winters here are very mild with no humidity. One word of caution; there is alot of good eating here especially if you enjoy bbq and seafood. I've gained 20 lbs since moving!

Well, this morning it was 30 degrees. I was ok in our apartment, UNTIL I went outside! Not 5 minutes pasted before my right hip (hip replacement) and right shoulder (rotor cup surgery) started aching !! Hip was done in Oct 205 and shoulder in Feb 2007. Tomorrow's high here (Huntersville, NC) will be around 44......darn, the PAIN of it !! So, this is one of a few reasons we are seriously considering that move to Jacksonville . And, we also know why a number of folks in our age bracket of 60 move to Florida period !!

Well we do have a few chilly nights in Jax, probably not as many as further north of Jax.

Well, just went outside to get our mail and it is FREEZING here ! Actually, with the wind-chill factor (that local weather isn't even mentioning) it is 27 degrees right now (that is BELOW freezing). The wind was really "cutting" right thru my coat even ! And, tonight the temp will go down to 24 degrees ! And, my shoulder/upper arm has been aching most of the day . Just can't wait to get out of this weather in a few months and (hopefully) move there . You folks may have these kind of cold temps in the morning, but in the middle of the day it isn't as cold as it has been here today!! It's bad enough that I'm still unemployed, but to add this freezing cold weather also......I HATE this!!!! One good thing, NO SNOW......thank God!!!!
