The thing I don't like about Tampa is St. Pete should be apart of it. If you mixed Jacksonville with Miami you would get Tampa Bay area.

I am moving FROM the west coast to FLORIDA! I need warm water. The west coast is COLD, especially if you are from fl. I have been looking into places with surf on the east coast. Having trouble myself deciding where to go. Jaxs beach is my first option at this point.

If you need WARM water then you should move to Belize. If you want to surf don't move to anywhere on the Gulf Coast, there's hardly any waves in the Gulf unless there's one of the many hurricane's blowing through there. The further south you go on the east coast of Florida the warmer the water gets, mainly due to the Gulf Stream being further offshore in North Florida than it is in South Florida. In Miami the Gulf Stream is approx. 3 miles off the beach, in Jacksonville the Gulf Stream is approx. 65 miles off the beach.

I agree. I live in Tampa, I'm from Miami but also lived in N. Fl and have family in Jax. You're better off staying in Tampa, I still think it has more to offer you than Jax. Does.

Jax is still pretty much the "old south" in many ways. Not necessarily a bad thing, but a lot of that stuff you mentioned doesnt trickle down here as fast as it does in southern FL. Its growing, just at a snails pace.

Jax. Still gets cold. It's N. Fl. In fact, it gets cold here in Tampa too. I don't know if you can escape the cold in the states. I lived in the Fl. Keys and it got cold there too.
