Default Opinions Please: Murray Hill Vs Orange Park

Hi,
My husband and I are purchasing a business that will serve the Orange Park area. We will be relocating as soon as my home in the Ft. Lauderdale Area sells. While searching online for a home I found one I adore in the Murray Hill Area, but have not actually visited yet. I have visited Orange Park and found it to be very nice, but very cookie cutter suburban. I would prefer an area with more character. How do these areas compare? We are empty nesters so schools are not important! Thank you

there is another thread going on that talks about the murray hill area.
I would not make up my mind until I saw any house in any area house in person.
While we were looking at houses in the Atlanta area it turned into a game of
"lets see how closely the house matches the online MLS"
FL is only about 4 1/2 hours away can you take a drive up and spend time in both areas ?

I lived in Murray Hill for 2 years. a lot of houses built in the 30's and 40's. Many of them are smaller, 1500sf or so. It's similar to Riverside in some of the housing styles, but still needs some work as far as 'quality'. a lot of the residents are either elderly who have lived there for a while, and can't keep up there yards like they used to, or for lack of better terminology, 'lower-class' minderset, who have no problem parking cars in their yards. That's about half the neihgborhood, the other half is young people (familes ans singles) restore the neighborhood back to its former self, when people had pride in their property.

How much are you looking to spend?

There are sections of Murray Hill I would love to live in and there are sections I would not love to live in. Many of the homes are quaint and have great character. I love character in a house. Orange Park to me is too busy and cookie cutter as you stated. However, that is only my personal preference. I concur with myfask that you should see the home in person. I always suggest driving the area as well. Drive it during various times of the day to get a comfort level as the quality of life there.
