Hello fellow Jax residents,

Happy and prosperous 2009 for all of us! My gf and I have lived off of Monument Rd for almost three years now and are ready for a change of scenery. We love going to Riverside every weekend but would love to hear any feedback about that side of town from actual residents.

We love the artsy, walk-friendly, not so conservative aspect of it but have heard mixed things regarding crime. Needless to say, living next to Regency Mall isn't exactly safe haven but should we worry about higher crime over the river?

Also, how much does rent on a decent 2 bedroom duplex, house, apt run? Is it true since most of the housing in Riverside is older, kerosene is needed for heat and if so, what does the typical bill run?

Thanks so much for your help!!

Try looking at rentals.com. Also, you can do a rental mls search for the area to get a better idea of rent prices.

I don't believe anyone runs on kerosene anymore, I know some of the older homes still have the tank on the side of the home, but most are central heat/air or window a/c with some of the smaller units.
