Lived in Vegas for a while, and have to admit it was convenient to walk to work. But at the same time 1 vehicle stolen, another broken into in a theft attempt.

The dense areas are:

1) In and near downtown
2) Along the river
3) Along the ocean

The rest of The Southside is identical to Northern St. Johns county for variety of lot size.

Meaning, you can find plenty of homes on 1/2 - 1 acre lots on The Southside. You can also find new construction homes where the lots are tight and the homes are very close. it is no different in Northern St. John's county except St. John's isn't fully developed yet (it will be in time). The idea that you would automatically have a larger lot if you lived in St. John's county is not true.

Inside the city limits of Jacksonville you will find urban and suburban and rural.......you'd have to see it for yourself, but it's vastly suburban, not too much urban.

Sorry, it's just shorthand for "Thread Starter"

This forum might use OP for "Original Poster" or one of the other many acronyms. Honestly I haven't paid attention and I didn't even think about it. Therein lies the peril of internet shorthand. It took me forever to figure out what the hell people meant by DH (Dearest Husband or something to that effect).

Thanks. I'd never seen any of those acronyms before coming here. OP i figured out on my own. DH I found in a quick google search. But TS I couldn't figure out, and when I searched for it some sites showed nearly 200 possible meanings to TS (it's a pretty common abbreviation)...so I was at a loss. I was trying to figure out something with Top or Topic, but I didnt think of "starter."

LOL! Had a buddy in High School that tried to wear a "Jackson, Miss." T shirt with a huge Confederate flag on it for Student Council photos. They made him wear it backwards, LOL!

Funny thing is, he's the most racially relaxed person in my entire set of friends. Been my experience that southerners often are less racist than northerners. Or at least it takes different forms.

The southerners will accept the black culture, play basketball with blacks, etc. etc. but are really P.O.'ed about losing the Civil War.

The northerners seem to be much more stoic about it. For example they don't want "those people" in their yacht club or whatever.

Just my experiences. Your mileage may vary.

I don't like stereotypes.

I don't visit downtown or North Jax so I don't know the 'Compton' factor.

I haven't seen stereotypical 'Rednecks' where I go (i.e. the boys from "The Deliverance"). If you call people who wear tractor brand hats or rebel flag T shirts 'Rednecks', the only real place I have seen folks like that are in the Flea Market and, on occassions, the Farmer's Market. Then again, I will add Walmart on a Friday or Saturday night in Fleming Island or Blanding BLVD in OP.
