I am looking for a hotel to stay at near the Prime Osborn Center that is a reasonable rate for a couple of days, Does anyone know if the Super 8 - 2228 Phillips Highway, is in a safe area, as it will only be me and my daughter?

Thanks,
A

Not too recommended if you're a woman bringing daughter.
Will you have be driving?

Heres the google link with a map. There are 14 reviews some decent, some really bad. Check out the link and read the reviews for more info (not the best part of town)

Not an area that I would consider. What is your budget? Maybe we can come up with some safer choices.

Orange Park has a number of hotels, and that would put you about 20 minutes south of the Prime Osborne (a straight shot up Hwy 17.)

My inlaws own hotels in another state.

I prefer hotels/motels with internal corridors. I feel safer, since most people have to pass by the security cameras and get seen by the front desk staff. I also look for lighting at night in the parking lot.

I also recommend Orange Park to get a hotel/motel.

Okay, I don't mean to offend anyone, but ORANGE PARK is NOT a good location for someone who specifically wants to stay near the convention center! Guys, I know this is Jacksonville, but 20 miles away isn't nearby even for us !!

Gritsaw, that super 8 Motel is about 1 mile away from one of the only truly bad neighborhoods south of the river. It's very industrial, and not nice. It's a shame, because it's also really close to a very nice neighborhood (San Marco). But it's the proverbial "wrong side of the tracks."

Have you tried something like Hotwire.com? They often have extremely low rates. If you can find a downtown hotel in your price range, it would be well worth it (and downtown btw has lower crime rates than most suburban areas)
