Moving to Jacksonville
I am moving from Washington, DC area (Northern VA) to Jacksonville. I have accepted the job with the City of Jacksonville. They are located in downtown. I have no clue about the city. I am looking for your advise. I have 2 kids ages 11 and 8. I am looking for good schools in Duval county. Please advise me which area is good for living? Thanks for you advise.

We have lived in the Baker County (Macclenny & Glen St. Mary) area (Just to the West of Duval County) since 1988. We really like the area and the schools. It has served us well since our daughter was able to qualify for a full scholarship for college (Bright Futures) from the school system. It is still country, but close enough to JAX and folks are friendly. No we are not realtors either. Good Luck in your future plans.

Avondale-all price ranges, nice, safe, in the city so easy commute to downtown. also try san marco, ortega, riverside, springfield, and murray hill. some are nicer than others, if u want the suburban lifestyle these are not for u but if u want to live in the city, i can pm you on all the scoop. also good duval schools are Mandarin, Stanton, and Paxon, the latter two are charter schools. For elementary schools, Stockton elementary in Ortega Forest is a national model or something along those lines.

Mandarin has good schools- Crown Point, Loretto Elementaries and Mandarin Middle. All "A" schools.
About 13 miles down San Jose to the downtown or can go via I295/I95.
We have a Whole Foods coming next year, too!

Reggie
Could you please guide me what are upscale areas in the Duval county away from water. I just looked at Mandarin and checked out schools. They are all "A"'s which is great. Thanks for your help.
