Hair dresser question
I am trying to find someone who will apply my own hair color product to my hair. It's out of the box Clairol, nothing exotic. My hair is really short in the back and is hard for me to get even coverage when I do it myself. But I have gone to four stylists and only one would use my own product. And she was going to charge $70!
Does anyone know of someone willing to do this? It's a sealed box, right from the store. The others said that they could match the color with their own products, but I've tried that twice in the past and it's never the same. I am not looking to save money or to have highlights added, just to get the color that I want. But $70 is laughable!
SS, Mandarin area would be perfect, but not mandatory.

I've heard that there's a cosmetic school around town somewhere that does stuff like that, but I don't know where it is or the name of it. I think they offer it up, so the students can get some training. Not sure if that's appealing to you, though. :-)

Thanks, Eric!
Anyone who can see the back of my head and apply hair coloring would be appealing to me. When I lived in Tally, my BF would do it and do highlights. The more wine we would drink, the better the highlights!
Anyone know the name of that school?

With all due respect, would you buy a steak from Winn Dixie and go to Outback and expect them to cook it for you? Would you buy the paint at Walmart and go to the auto body repair shop and expect them to paint your car for you?
Point being, this is how these folks make a living, utilizing their products, at a markup.
Maybe you could get a neighbor or a family member to apply your hair color for you. That's what I've seen done, with folks who don't want to pay salon prices.

NNYL- My original post stated: "I am not looking to save money or to have highlights added, just to get the color that I want." Not sure why you assumed that it was about the money.
I expect to pay the same price and made that clear when I inquired. I just want my store-bought product used BC I like the color. But $70- which was the price I got from a tiny shop on Powers Av.- is out of line. I think it was high BC they have a Black clientel and color is typically a more involved process. I figured an independent shop would not have rules about using only their products. The other three shops charged between $40-$45, using their product, but would not apply mine for the same price.
My family members are 11 and 78..... Not thinking that they would do a professional job!
Thank you for your suggestions.

Though HIF if Mom was wearing her "special necklace" you might get some interesting results
I think the shops are going to avoid using brought in color to avoid any "issues".
Have you thought about getting one of those hand free mirrors that you can attach next to the bathroom mirror
so you can see behind you

Ahh, yes. The Tiffanado Praying Hands necklace. Or I could wear it and wouldn't care about the outcome!
I'm not usually so obsessed, but starting a new venture in a week, so want it to really be good. (TPH necklace is out!) So I guess my choices are- good coverage, wrong color or right color, greying ocelot-effect in back- LOL!

We're getting a Paul Mitchell school in The Avenues Walk - the new outdoor mall across the street from The Avenues.
The Avenues Walk is under construction right now, but I'm not sure of the status for the Paul Mitchell school.....
