Please don't take this as rude or snippety because that's not my intent, but ACK! Jacksonville is so much more than just crime! Please pass the word! :-)

About 32209 ... and please, someone correct me if I'm wrong .... but I don't believe that area is exactly one of Jax's best.

I know the spot. My answer differs depending on whether you will be working there or considering living there.

The actual job corp campus is gated with security and it's a nice campus. I'm in and out of there from time to time and I have no worries while on campus or in the immediate neighborhood. So if you'll be working there, you'll be fine, you'll just want reliable transportation (don't rely on city transportation).

If you were considering living there, I'd advise against it. I'm sure there are plenty of good, hardworking people who live there, but it's a rough area overall.

Yes, it is mostly (all?) younger people - late teens and early 20's. They are there to get their GED and learn a trade simultaneously. Some live on campus, others commute in. The kids are fine, they are there to accomplish something and they're pretty focused on it.

The campus is clean and safe and modern with nice grounds (there's even a golf course). The immediate neighborhood outside the campus is very different. I can handle a gritty neighborhood, and like I said, I'm sure it's mostly filled with hardworking people, but this is a depressed part of our city.

If at all possible, I would come down for a visit to take a look. It's very easy to get to - it's right off on I95.

Most of the kids come from the local school districts in NorthEast Florida. I would suggest calling Job Corp directly with your question.
