Noisy gas blowers can be a horrible nuisance if you're home during the day and living in a compact neighborhood. To what extent is this a problem in St. Augustine and the surrounding neighborhoods? Are there any ordinances regulating their use?

I'm guessing you mean lawncare leaf/debris blowers? I live in what could be described as a compact neighborhood, but honestly the noise hasn't been a problem - probably because properties are small, so it doesn't take a lawn maintenance crew very long to do what they do. The only ordinance I can think of would be time of day - depending on location, quiet times between 10 pm and 7 am (or something like that) would be in force. As for use of blowers themselves, I doubt there are any other regulations.

Yes, I mean the noisy, powerful gasoline-powered leaf/debris blowers that landscaping contractors use.

Are you home weekdays during the daytime? Do you like to have your windows open when it's pleasant outside, rather than keeping windows shut and turning on the air conditioner? That's when the noise from the leaf blowers is really annoying.

Are you home weekdays during the daytime? Yes, I am. Do you like to have your windows open when it's pleasant outside, rather than keeping windows shut and turning on the air conditioner? I'm definitely the open-the-window type! That's when the noise from the leaf blowers is really annoying.
Honestly, I'm not bothered, not even when the lawn service is doing our own yard. Yes, it's loud, but start to finish they're done with the mowing and the edging and the blowing in under 20 minutes. My neighbor's service comes the same day as ours (Thursdays), but the noise from both definitely does not ruin my entire day.

How often are these blowers being ran to bother you this much? Do you live by the repair shop?
And do you work nights or something and they are preventing you from getting sleep?

You wouldn't like me at all as a neighbor.... I AM home all day and I LOVE using mine after mowing the lawn or to just clear the driveway..... fun fun fun!

Seriously, calling this an issue over their daytime use definately evokes a "Seriously?!?! Are you kidding me?" response...

Non issue..

Communities all across this country, and elsewhere, are now strictly regulating or even banning the use of leaf blowers. That St. Augustine is evidently oblivious to the health risks from the dust they blow up and from their mostly two-cycle engines' exhaust, and from the noise, hardly makes St. Augustine a desirable place to live.

Sounds good to me.......maybe just stay where you are instead of risking your health in some of the cleanest air of the country??????

There must be more to this story. What makes you come here, establish an account and pick a city of less than 14,000 to complain about a single, arguably small, nuisance?
