http://www.city-data.com/forum/jacks...zza-pizza.html , for newbies to the Jax forum (and for oldies, too), it's not just pizza on the menu. Restaurants featuring pizza are usually chosen because they're usually less expensive than other sit-down restaurants. However, not everyone gets pizza! Taste preferences for past attendees has varied widely, and a restaurant to suit all is the idea.
For "statistics", I'll guess that about 30 different forum members have attended a gathering since the beginning; some attend every, some just a few, some just one. Some have become real-life friends while others have remained online friends. No one has been judged by his/her choice.
Conversations vary greatly from sports to food to where-did-you-hail-from-originally, etc., and you can share as much or as little as you want. Even the shy-est of the shy feel welcome and part of it all. Rarely does talk of city-data ever come up, so, no, it's not a gossipy gaggle.
Of course that first step into a group of strangers feels weird, but after that it's a breeze. At the end of the gathering you know if you'd like to attend again or not.
The gatherings have been held usually in the evening during the week, but that's not something cast in stone.
So, if you have ideas or preferences or opinions (place, day of week, time), speak up! It's not all about pizza!
