Enza's (an Italian restaurant in Mandarin...same shopping center as Whole Foods & Office Depot) had a jazz combo playing outside last night. We had a table outside and listened to jazz. It was really nice.
I think someone said they do it every other Friday. You could call and ask them when they are doing it next.

Well, Jacksonville may be behind the times for other reasons but not because it doesn't have an all-day jazz or classical music station.
Lots of cities don't. I was just stating a fact that had nothing to do with backwardness.

Default I agree with you we need a jazz community

I have less than a year left in graduate school and I if all goes well, hopefully in 2010. I hope to open a Jazz club. We do need a jazz community here. It would be great for the city. It is nice to know that someone other people feel the same way. I enjoyed the Jazz festival downtown. It was nice to be able to choose the artists of your choice that you wanted to listen too.

Even a club featuring jazz one or two nights a week like Sangrias in downtown St. Augustine on Sunday nights
but let's hear about some places in Jax where you can listen to some decent live jazz instead of the usual fare.
I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there are quite a few very talented jazz artists right here in Jax.
Maybe we can form a little jazz community here on C-D.

And BTW here's a heads-up: Jacksonville Jazz Festival Spring 2009

I love Jazz and am looking for more it in Jax, I have found that the Brick restaurant in Avondale does a good job of offering Jazz. It is on the site of the former Jazz site, Partners. It is on St. Johns Avenue at Ingleside in Avondale.

I had heard that Simon's in San Marco had provided it at one time. Not sure anymore. Any other good places in Jax?

There's a new classy joint called Fusion: Art-Wine-Jazz on Pearl Street, near the corner of 8th & Pearl in Historic Springfield.

Here's the website: FUSION*art*wine*jazz* - FUSION

Great place to chill.
