My St. Augustine grass is coming back nicely, but there are patches of thick, brown, apparently dead runners that are not coming back. Should I pull the dead runners out to better allow new grass to fill in, or should I just wait for nature to take its course. I use a professional service for fertilization and weed control.

I would pull up those runner and either 1)plug the bare ground with St Augustine grass plugs, or 2)buy a few pieces of sod to fill the bare spots. Plugging will take longer to spread, but is cheaper. Sod will, obviously, fill the bare spots instantly, but costs a little more.
