We adopted a gorgeous older kitten 7 years ago from the adoption center in Mandarin. She was returned by someone else because she had an upper respiratory infection, but the vet took care of her and she was healthy when we got her. She had been spayed, given all her shots (except rabies, per their policy). She's an absolute beaut! The site in Mandarin is very clean and the workers are caring people.

I am so sorry, your story is heartbreaking.

A stray cat had babies in our attic without our knowledge ... 2 of the kittens fell through into the wall. We spent all day yesterday tearing open the wall to rescue these two kittens. They are adorable and survivors! I took them to Animal Care and Control and an employee was going to foster them and put them up for adoption ... please call animal care and control and adopt these babies!! I would love for them to go to a loving home - they deserve it!

Wow, I'm glad you got them, it sounds like a lot of effort but you saved them .

Just an update. My DH and I went out for an hour or so last week to check out a few places that were still holding adoption events Sunday afternoon. We found one kitty we both loved, but come to find out they had not marked her as adopted yet, she was taken . We plan on going back out this morning after I get out of work and going to the Clay shelter and then possibly Duval if no luck there.

Can you provide more info? Like what they look like and which location you took them to? Thank you. And you did a great thing!

Thanks for all of your replies. We found a match yesterday morning. We went out to Safe Animal Shelter on 220, but the kitty we liked was being treated for "an unknown cause of diarrhea" so taking her home was out of the question. So we wandered back up Blanding to the Petsmart at I295, and Catbugs a rescue group from Middleburg was just setting up. We found our match there and took him home, despite the one rule against white fur Adopt a Snowshoe: Frosty: Petfinder He is now 3 mos and absolutely nuts!

Cuteness! What a sweet little cat! Ah well, what's a little white fur all over your suits, right? Another casualty of the economy rescued (see Snowshoe's story), good for you Apanda!
