Oh, that church might affect you more than you know, river.

Many people argue that that church has single-handedly held our downtown back by a couple decades. Just sayin...but of course, if you're not an urban guy then maybe it hasn't mattered to you.

Although I'd rather not keep this thread alive because, like R1v3rRat, it's things like this that serve as a reminder "oh yeah, that church that has a parking lot akin to Walmart" and I think no more about it.

Can anyone relate any exact instances in which FBC has wielded a heavy hand over the comings and goings of Jacksonville? I'd be interested to hear specifics rather than the time-worn cliche that FBC owns Jax.

Although I can't find the specific articles, I do know that FBC is largely responsible for the restrictive bar laws and lack of growth in the downtown area. They vehemently fought against the FL-GA game weekends, and similar venues which bring in a lot of $$ downtown.

Now it's caught the attention of Reddit (where Digg gets most of their stories), so it'll probably be on the national news by the end of the week: Hi church, meet state: Police detective, who incidentially is on megachurch's payroll, subpeonas the ID of a blogger critical of the pastor's $300,000 salary. Finding no legal wrongdoing, the detective informs the pastor of the blogger's identity, wh

The last time Jax caught the attention of Digg/Reddit was when the Subway idiot called 911 because they made his sammich wrong.

Kinda reminds me of a local church here that is a Rick Warren disciple. Newspring church. Massive place full of drones who are downright vicious when you criticize their savior I mean pastor.
