Jacksonville Area Bound?!?!
My wife and I are from The Great Northwest. Since moving from there, we have lived in 2 southeastern states, and probably a 3rd very shortly. I am a man of mixed heritage, (Black, White, Native American, and Italian) as is my wife, (Black and White). We also have 2 wonderful young daughters. I am potentially going to be brought to the Baldwin area for employment. We are curious as to what areas are the most family oriented, with good schools and friendly neiborhoods with a good mix of ethnic backgrounds. My residence does not necessarily need to be in Baldwin, so any information that can be provided on area's within no more then 45 minutes one way drive would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and God Bless

Do not live in Baldwin, while the area is growing and probably bcoming more diverse, it is still deep westside where you will see confederate flags bumper tags =( Move to an intown neighborhood on the westside of the river so that you encounter actual civilization, lots of diversity, a range of living options, culture, and accessibility to I-10. Commuting to Baldwin will be a breeze since you will be doing the opposite of what the traffic is doing (going east on I-10 in the morning is possibly the worst highway traffic in town).
These intown neighborhoods include Riverside, Avondale, and Ortega. I would choose Avondale over the other two (its in between the other two and is a great neighborhood where you will feel right at home). There are also other diverse neighborhoods with lower prices on the westside like confederate point (dont worry the name does not mean anything), hyde park area, and generally around wilson blvd, san juan ave, and 103rd st. also try the murray hill neighborhood on the other side of roosevelt from avondale. it would put uyou on I-10 in as little as a minute, very close, quite nice, and it too has a little commercial district with moon river pizza, murray hill theater, etc.

I second that
I agree with everything jsimms3 said above. Baldwin is very rural, which can be nice, but based on what you said your needs are, Balwin doesn't sound like what you're looking for.
If the commute will work for you, all of jsimms3 neighborhood choices sounded good.

Consider Orange Park if it isn't too far.
