Lately I've had a craving for calamari. Does anyone know where I can find this dish here in Jacksonville? Who makes it tender?

The last time I've had this dish was at a place in Baltimore's little Italy a number of years ago. It was so tender it melted in your mouth. I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant.

I've had this dish at other places where it was as tough as rubber bands. Obviously I would like to avoid restaurants that make it like that.

Santioni's on San Jose in Mandarin has great calamari IMO. Carabba's does pretty well for a chain restaurant. Santioni's is my favorite, though.

Best I've had was at Cap's in Villano Beach. Great place to eat this time of year- lots of outdoor seating by the intra-coastal waterway.

I haven't been to Santioni's in years, but I always thought their food was good.

For a different spin on calamari, P.F. Chang's cooks it properly as does Mitchell's SeaFood Market. Both are chain restaurants and both are located in the Saint Johns Town Center.

Carraba's is very good, as is that Italian restaurant at the St. Johns Town Center (name escapes me right now).

Carabba's is a chain, but they are also franchised. the one on san jose is owned by someone who lives here locally. he actually works there as well. i met him. he's very nice. they have very tasty calamari. the seasoning is good. but the calamari isn't very thick like i like it. so i will try santioni's today.

Carraba's is great, even for a chain.

Maggiano's at St. Johns Town Center is awesome!
