This coming weekend (29th, 30th, 31st) the Tall Ships will be at Jacksonville Landing on the St. John's River. These are Cutter type sail ships. As of this posting, the website is down for this event (don't know why), but I'm sure it will be back up. These ships start arriving in Jacksonville this coming Thursday (I read). Just as an "FYI", the Main Street Draw Bridge will be raising and lowering to allow these tall ships into Jacksonville Landing.

The following weekend (June 4, 5, 6, 7) the Jax River Rally Poker Run happens! These are high performance boats flying thru the waters of the St. John's River! These boats are extremely fast and so, so cool looking. The website is: jaxriverrallypokerrun.com

Remember to bring your cameras (still/video) to get some great shots!

We have other plans scheduled for both of those weekends, but otherwise would have considered both events.

The Jax River Rally Poker Run should be fun. I never understood all the hoopla about Tall Ships though.

It looks like all of the fun is happening the two weekends prior to our moving down there. What info do you have on fun things to do the weekend of 6/20-6/21?

The Tall Ships is a great event! I went last year. It's free and there's a nice little show with pirate ships out on the water. You can even take a short boat ride (also free).

I wish I could be there this coming weekend. The girls should be though. Their dad is coming up and said he would take them there. CDers if you are there, keep an I out for the little Sums!

Tall ships are COOL! Something from the past that you can actually see, touch, hear, etc. I don't think I'd want to taste them! ha ha

Since we have only lived in Jax for about 5 months now and have never seen any events that happen on the St. John's, we are really excited about what is coming up. Also, even though it does get extremely crowded downtown to what the July 4th fireworks display (we are told this), we also plan to be downtown that afternoon/night for this event. Neither of us have ever seen a fireworks display over water! Should be really cool!
One thing for sure, when there are events like these to see, we definitely are "60 And Active"!
