Rabies alert in section of Jacksonville
Received this from the city today:
Jacksonville, FL - Duval County’s first rabies alert of the year is in effect through August 4, 2009 for the Granada area of Jacksonville.
The Rabies Alert area is bordered on the north by the Hendricks Avenue at Alford Place, on the south by Hendricks Avenue at St. Johns River, on the east by Emerson Street at Phillips Highway and on the west by St. Johns River.
The alert follows the discovery of a rabid raccoon in the Granada area. Pet owners in the alert area should confine their animals and be certain that each one has received current rabies immunization shots from a licensed veterinarian.
Stray animals should be reported to the City of Jacksonville Animal Care and Control Division at 630-2489.
