I am trying to find out a ballpark amount for HOI on a home built within the last 10 years, 20 miles west of the beach in a Jax suburb, built to hurricane code, with a current appraisal of $250K. I know there are a lot of variables but I am just looking for ballpark numbers on a new policy if taken out today. I just don't have any idea what HOI costs in Jax. Can anyone enlighten me on BALLPARK numbers or any other information I should know about HOI in Jax.

I did a search and read every thread that came up, but most are so old they can't reflect todays market and almost none had any estimates.

PS: Thanks to all who responded to my "moving from Maryland" thread...the information was great. Looking forward to our visit in a couple of weeks!

You're best and easiest way to get a quote would be to go to the source. Here's one: Erwin Insurance Agency, 904-268-8822.

I have a 6-year-old home about 15 miles from the beach in Mandarin, and my annual cost is about $750. My house is ~2500sf.

I agree with EricBoyd that the best place for a ballpark estimate would be through an agent. As you said, there are so many variables that it's hard to give you something without being disingenuous!

We're in Fleming Island, 10-year old house, 2900 sq ft, hurricane-resistant roof, wood-frame with stucco construction: $1500 for insurance. Of that amount, I can't recall the dollar figure for contents (another variable) nor do I know the distance to the nearest firehouse (another factor).

Just got $1200 for a 11 year old 2000 SF home in JCP. I went with ASI as the other companies my agent got quotes from hadn't been in business for more than 5 years.
