Why do the fans need to support the team? If some fans feel the product on the field isn't worthy of supporting it with their hard earned cash, why should they? You have to remember that a lot of people in the metro are fans of the teams in the city from which they came. Its the same thing in Arizona. Sure the Cardinals have sold out this year but look at their prior years. All that I'm saying is that the majority of people aren't going to support a loser.

The way I see it, there are not enough real Jaguar fans in this town, I mean real. Real fans will sit in the stadium and rally behind their team regardless of whether they are constantly losing and regardless of how much it costs. That's the meaning of a real fan.

A large percentage of the population in Jax is from somewhere else. The reason is too many NFL fans still have their allegiance to their original home teams and it is really tough to move to a new town and have to switch loyalties just like that. That could change though if and when the Jags are on some kinda winning streak. Otherwise people will watch it on TV only because they love the game.

the problem is this:

rednecks in this town would rather watch the gators blow out some ****ty school like Troy, than watch THEIR HOME TEAM play a competitive pro game, that matters.

Makes me sick than Wayne Weaver fought so hard to get an NFL franchise here, spent billions of dollars, and the people of Jacksonville continue to spit in his face. And for what?

You can't afford forty ****ing dollars? Please.

please. If someone wants to watch another team why do you care? More power to having a choice. Face it, the Jags as we know them today aren't a good product.

And saying Wayne has spent billions is pretty strange. The man has made more money off of the team than what he has paid for it. See my prior post as to how much the team is worth. Don't cry for Wayne or any other NFL owner. They're going to make their money even if all of the seats aren't filled. And no, the citizens aren't spitting in his face. When Wayne decides that he wants to put a winner on the field, then you'll see the stands filled like they were in 1999. No fan owes any team blind allegiance. Just ask fans of the former Houston Oilers, Charlotte Hornets, Baltimore Colts, LA Rams, LA Raiders, Hartford Whalers, maybe the Phoenix Coyotes and the Washington Senators what allegiance gets you.

I'm not one to call someone out for not wanting to spend $40 or $50. Who are any of us to call someone else out for not wanting to spend their hard earned money on a product that he or she doesn't want to buy? This is American and you can choose to support any company, vendor or team you like. Just like some in Jax choose not to support the Jags. Free choice is a wonderful thing.

Calling citizens names b/c they won't support a team is a EPIC FAIL!

Maybe my definition of a fan is old-school, but I do think a true fan supports their team with "blind allegiance" (well, blind to winning and losing anyway). I think that cricketfan hit it on the head in saying that the problem is that so many people that live in Jacksonville are die-hard fans of the team from the city they used to live in.

Granted, that doesn't mean that the games aren't more fun and worth more $$ if your team is good, but whether or not your team is good doesn't affect who you root for if you are a true fan.

This topic is close to my heart because I have seen the Gator fan population BOOM here over the past couple of years because they have been so good. Those people's fan-ness will be tested once the Gators start sucking again. I cry everytime the Seminoles lose, but I will still watch (or listen to) every game and root for them even if they play like crap because I am a fan.

Yeah I completely agree with you. I think too many people are spoiled by their beloved Gators (who always win, are high profile, tebow... etc..)

We need to be out there supporting the team no matter what

Thinking of the jags as a "product" is ridiculous from a "fans" perspective. Let the owners and management deal with the "business aspect". Its footbal, and we are fans (well some of us are). That means you stand by your team through thick and thin.

I've only lived in NE FL for 6 years. Coming here from VA (which has no pro sports), was an awesome change. We have a team. And our team has potential to be great. Do we have stuff to work on? Yes. Should management make some changes? Yes. Should we as fans turn our backs on the jags because of sub-par performance.. hell no!

It sucks that some people are truly missing what football, and being a fan of fooball, is all about.

Less people like he's so hott = Jaguar problem over. Paying $55 doesnt translate to victories. You go to the game because youre a fan. A true fan doesnt even think like this. I will be at the game win or lose.

Uh...

The capacity for Jags games ( with the tarps ) is 67,164.

The capacity for the Titans here in Nashville is 68,798.

The Jags can't sellout even with the tarps and it has nothing to do with the market. It has to do with the fact that Jacksonville just isn't a football town.

You could say that Nashville isn't a football town but we've sold out every single game (including preseason) since the stadium opened in 1999 and we have a 40k waiting list.
