THAT is why Clay county has "better schools". It's not because the system is better or the teachers are better, it's because the composition of families that make up the county.
I'd rather not send my kid in with a bunch of other students who's parents could care less about their education. Like it or not, thats prob gonna have a negative effect on your child too. Your argument is like saying you could send your kid to the worst inner-city school & as long as his/her parents are involved, it'll be A-OK.

And besides, why should I have to pick up the slack for a school filled with a bunch of mediocre to below average students with crappy parents?? Its just not a good environment. Might as well home school before I did that.

not really, it is called reality. Why do I want my kids around others that have no want to be in school? I'm talking high school age.

to get used making good choices, picking good friends, to see the consequences of bad choices first hand, to meet others from different backgrounds, learn how to adapt to different teaching styles, learn how to achieve in less-than-perfect situations, etc.

Also, to get ready for college...where there is no coddling, special attention, etc.

most kids in college want to be there and make good enough grades to get in the college in the first place. To say putting kids in a school around other kids that want to learn is paranoid is comical. In private school, if you do some of the crap they do in public school you get kicked out FAST.
