Do you know if horticultural vinegar (BVG Natural Horticulture Vinegar or any other brand) is sold locally & if so, where? It is 20% acetic acid. I'm looking for an effective & natural way to kill the weeds in my backyard so I can put some plugs in. I don't want to re-sod due to the expense & I'm hoping for my back lawn to be "normal" again by next spring/summer. My back lawn is about 80% weeds at the moment due to a cinch bug outbreak we had while we were on vacation this summer. My young children play in the yard, hence I'd like to try vinegar.

Thanks!

I am not familiar with horticultural vinegar you can always call the extension office homeowners help line at 904-387-8850 they have MGs answering calls in the mornings & afternoons

They may also be able to identify the weeds you have some weeds may not react to the vinegar
For example torpedo grass can have roots as deep as 8 to 12 "s

To be honest if your lawn is 80 % weeds plugs will take a very long time to fill in not to mention the weeds will probably start to grow again while you have the open soil area while waiting for the plugs to fill in.

I have seen some really good deals on sod lately and if you can get some help it really isn't that hard to put down.

Thank you. I was afraid you were going to say this. I hate St. Augustine grass. Hate it.
