I know lots of people that have lived back there... I think you will enjoy jacksonville... I liked Southern MD a lot but it was nowhere near worth the money... I doubled the size of my apartment in Great Mills and I am paying hundreds less a month here... Plus no ridiculous state income tax like in MD, you will notice a huge difference...

Kelly - I just moved from Mechanicsville! Funny that Tercel came from the same area.
I moved into an apartment here in Jacksonville. I will send you a message with the details on the apartment. I'm very happy with where I'm at. I was very worried moving down here and not having any idea of what was around, what the areas where like, if I'd be living in a safe community.
I'll send you a message now ...

I also randomly ran into a woman at work from huntingtown and my girlfriend has actually ran into a few people she new from high school (Great Mills)... You would be amazed about the connection between the two areas... I have met more people here from the northeast than I have from Jacksonville...
Good to see we are representing SOMD down here...

Welcome! We almost got stationed at Pax.....I was really glad when those orders fell through. My husband is over at NAS and we live out in Oakleaf Plantation......we have a few neighbors who work out in Mayport, BUT I can't imagine the commute....it would be awful I think!

32225 is your number one I would say, 32224 second and 32246 third unless you want to live at the beach but I do not know those zip codes but I do know they have great schools if you need schools.
Whatever you do, do not live in Orange park if your working at mayport.

I second this post. I used to live in 32246 and it is very close to Mayport. 32225 would put you even closer. Nice homes/apartments, good schools, all the shopping and restaurants you'd need, close to the beach and downtown. These zips are known as Intracoastal West and parts of 32225 are known as Fort Caroline. Very nice areas .

I think I want to live in 32225 from what I have researched. I like being close to shopping and to the beach. Plus it will be close to the base. I have sent emails to people about properties for rent but I have been told that I am looking to early. That seems a bit rude, yes it is early but I am moving my family to a place I have never seen. Do they want me to call them a week before saying I need a place to live.
I still need to find out info about The Retreats at St. John. I love there website and that it is close to the stores. I wish someone knew something about them.
