Green Cove Springs
I have been on these boards for quite a while and have not came across anything about Green Cove Springs or Middleburg. We will be going down to FL on Tuesday to house hunt again. This time we need to buy. Any input on this area would be appreciated. Schools also in this area as well.
Thanks

Green Cove and Middleburg are 2 areas just outside Orange Park/ Fleming Island area. They are kinda remote. If your looking for a little land and don't mind passing by lots of trailers to get there, you should look into it. If you want more suburbia, stay in Fleming Island. You can find master planned neighborhoods or neighborhoods with no amenities off Pine Ave and off CR220.
Good Luck with your search!

It looked like there was quite a few new subs in and around Green Cove Springs. So is it not really built up? So is it that there are many trailers that you would have to pass to get into these subs? Do you have names of the planned neighborhood that I should look into?
Thanks

As NY-FL girl stated, Green Cove is remote. Long a country area/tiny town, there have been developments popping up there...still looks like country to me.
Will you be driving by trailer parks? Maybe. A lot of NE FL - Jacksonville, for example - have developed into cities through the process of incorporating many smaller towns. Along with incorporation came some uneven zoning. So, you can find spots - moreso out in the rural areas - with trailers. But.....land here is becoming more valuable, so you can almost bet that these trailer parks will eventually be developed as well, could take years and years though.
Were you specifically looking for rural areas? Is that what attracted you to Green Cove and Middleburg?

The area doesn't have to be remote. Just a good family friendly area, schools decent and some good restaurants and shopping fairly close. Don't go shopping that often and don't mind a little drive. From what I have seen on jobs, I may have to drive for work. The husband will be working from home. We have to be orlando N per our contract. So the area is open just hard to circle in on areas that we may like with limited time to look. We have to buy this next week when we come. Hopefully we will make it in with so many highways blocked with the fire/smoke. Want a pool home in a sub with sidewalks and don't want to spend more than 275,000. Any suggestions would be appreciated if I am missing out on looking at something.
Thanks

No problems with road blocks or anything in the area you'll be looking at.
If you need to be north of Orlando, Green Cove would be closer and more central/inland to Orlando if that's one of the restrictions...can you be anywhere north of Orlando? Meaning: Are the beaches out simply because they are too far east of Orlando?
Really, NE FL on the whole is family-friendly, so whether you prefer town or country, there are family friendly locations all throughout.
If you'll be working, it is very likely you'll be commuting out of the area, it depends on what type of work you are looking for of course.
I guess I'm wondering what put Green Cove on the radar for you. You don't hear much about it because it is so remote...very pretty though and I'm sure the people are nice and it is becoming more developed.
Are you missing something by targeting this area without looking at others...maybe. $275k can buy a house in a lot of different areas in NE FL, I guess it depends on what you're lookinng for out of an area.

My husbands work requirements state that we can live 35 miles South of Orlando and draw a line E/W and go N to Georgia border. We have only been to Disney(as we have three boys) everytime we have came to FL and we have no friends or family in the area. We were down two weeks back and looked in Orlando area, Clermont, and St. Augustine. I have been just on the boards reading information and on realtor.com looking for homes in our price range. I just want good schools, a neighborhood, a couple of familiar restaurant chains and a place to call home plus a 4 bedroom pool home all for under 300,000.
We are moving from a pretty rural area of Northern Michigan. We have a lot of lakes, rivers, and forests. So I guess it scares me when people say rural because that is not what I really want. I want for my youngest boy to be able to ride his bike on sidewalks and if the husband and I decide to go for a nice dinner we have choices also we have dogs so I need a decent size yard for them to run a little.
Any Suggestions? Should I be looking into Jacksonville? Dunnellon? I've seen Citrus Springs homes are cheap but it seems as if there are no jobs. Just want to be somewhere that we can grow with the area. Growth is a positive thing.
Thanks for you input.

if you want real suburban, and being close to JAX look into the fruit cove, switzerland area of st johns, if you want a little less suburban and a little more rural look at the rt 210 area west of 95
