We found a stray yesterday and I have posted it on criagslist. Are there other sites in Jax where I can post a "found" notice"?

Actually, I'd refrain from using Craigslist for anything related to dogs.

Unfortunately, people will "adopt" free dogs only to use that dog for dogfighting bait, sell the dog to a testing lab or who knows what else. Females are often the front because they are less threatening, but once they have the dog, they hand the dog over to the people with sinister intents. Craigslist is notorious for attracting these people .

A far better site is Petfinder.com. Pets911.com is another one.

Here are some resources and articles that might help:

And for anyone curious about what I mean when I say that someone will "adopt" a dog and then turn around and use that dog as bait for fighters, you can find out more about dogfighting on an Animal Planet show that premiers tonight: Animal Planet Investigates, Dogfighting Exposed 1/25/10 @ 10pm

HIF, you're a good egg for picking up that stray .

Oh, and I forgot to add, the very first thing I would do is run the dog by a vet to check for a microchip.

Just call your vet or any local vet and ask if they will scan the dog for you. It's always good to check. Even mutts can be microchipped.

My vet has a scanner if yours doesn't:
