Hi since the median salary in the US is about $43K. I think this is very good salary. I presume this is your gross amount. With that being said, I don't know that this tons of money, but I think you can do alright in Jax. I'm not certain that Ponte Vedra would be a wise choice, but maybe you could afford to live in one of the other beaches where prices would be a little cheaper. If you don't over do it on your housing and factor in a reasonable commute, I think you will be living very nicely.

LOL, you must be THE MAN then, huh? I guess if you're a doctor or someone with a post graduate degree, it might be worth a laugh or two. I went to college for 6 years, and in this economy, $50k is good money, imo. I actually make a little more, but nothing I'd share with others, unless they asked, or I was begging for attention.

You are taking it the wrong way mate. $50k is a good salary for some jobs and not for others. $50k for a kindergarden teacher is probably pretty good. $50k for a finance professional is entry level. All things are relative. For what I do at the present day, I would again, laugh at $50k

fsquid is correct! My wife has a Bachelors in Business/Accounting and 50k to her is somewhat of a joke, but, depending on a persons age, that 50k could be all they could get! Depending on the area/city/State a person lives in also.

As far as cost of living, and only supporting yourself, then yes 50k is great. Might I ask what your occupation is? usually thats the best basis for judging whether its "good" or not. Do you have experience? what education level have you achieved? The more details on you and your job will allow use to really give feedback on the salary... congrats and goodluck

It's all relative. It's all about one's lifestyle. If you live high on the hog then $50K is a joke. I just read in the WSJ about some of yesterday's millionaries that are filing for bankruptcy and foreclosing on their homes today. They are not as lucky as a guy earning $50K and leaving within his means especially in this part of the country.

In big metro cities and industrial centers $50K would be something to laugh at. Plus if you want to keep up with the Joneses and live the splashy lifestyle $50K would also be a joke and that goes for Jacksonville.
