Default Fyi - 20/20...

While watching Flash-Forward tonight, a commercial break showed that the Somer Thompson tragedy is the focus of the latest 20/20 program...

I thought maybe some might want to watch.

I DVR'd it, and watched it earlier today...kinda freaked me out a bit knowing how often children seem to be abducted or killed in Florida in general. Actually, not just children...women too. Or does Nancy Grace and Jane Velez-Mitchell just focus on crime happening only in Florida?? I do think, as a Northerner, I've noticed over the past few years that abductions and child murders are pretty damn frequent in Florida. More than just Caley and Hailey...but then we have our share of sex offenders up here too. I'm not surprised really, and (this will no doubt offend someone, so I'll apologize now for bringing this up but...) try to remember some of those sex-offenders may have been young men of 18 having consensual sex w/a 15 yr old, or worse yet, kids simply getting caught for sexting can be charged as a sex offender too. (My daughter started sexting at 12 and the school police officer already warned her of the consequences...but do they care?? NO cuz she just did it again & she's 14 now) We're having huge issues w/our kids sexting, and so not only did my daughter create the child pornography (the first felony), and as soon as she hits the send button, she now is disseminating child porn (an add'l felony charge), and then the recipient of the sext is now unwittingly in possession of child porn also, thereby also a potential sex offender if charged. I, myself, found my 14 yr old daughter's sexts on my blackberry which meant I, too, WAS in possession of child pornography until I deleted it!! I know I went off topic a bit, and yes sex offenders are scary, but try to remember they do come in varying degrees.

That 20/20 was very well done, and a sad note for Jacksonville and that poor child. Thank God they caught the right perpetrator!
