Default 32217 Jacksonville Question about neighborhood

Can anyone tell me about this neighborhood? Specifically Old Kings Rd S? We are from Massachusetts and we were told of a great opportunity there for a home and it is near the Mayo but we know like all cities there is good and bad? Could someone gift me some insight? Thank you so much!

I don't think old kings road is near the Mayo. The mayo is off San Pablo Road and the zip is 32224

32217 is just a bit south of Downtown on the "Southside" of the city. Mayo is over on San Pablo in "Intracoastal West".....not too far from each other, but probably 30 minutes or so.

I don't like Old Kings Road...this is the not so nice part of 32217 and there are some problem spots in there (nothing too terrible, small crime). There are better parts of 32217 if you want to be in that general area.

Do post on the Jax forum page as suggested, this way you can get a lot more feedback from others as well, you'll probably get a running discussion over there.

Having lived in the Old Kings Rd S area, directly on to be exact, for almost 3 years I have come to really like the area.

We dont have kids, but O.K.R.S. (Old Kings Rd S) has Kings Trail Elementary, an A graded school. I am not positive on the Jr. and High Schools, but there is a page in the Sat. June 30 issue of The Florida Times Union of all Duval County Schools grades.

The location is very convenient. 10 minute drive to downtown. 15-20 minute drive to Jax and Atlantic Beach. 30 minute drive to Downtown St. Augustine.

There are a few locations to shy away from however. Toledo Rd and Powers Ave. (Petty crime and a few murders a year). University near I-95 The same crimes as listed.

The area is ethnically diverse (European, Hispanic, Black and White).

Homes can vary the closer to the St. Johns River you buy. $150,000 and up are the norm. 1300 sq. ft. to 3 and 4 and 5,000 sq. ft. homes.
