Did you move yet? If not, I would suggest south Duval County or into St. Johns County. Schools are better, and you can get something affordable. From South on I-95, start looking from the interchange at St. Augustine Road (new Baptist Hospital), east and west of the highway interchange, and then south. Plenty of pretty and well landscaped communities to choose from.

A number of years ago, I used to live in "Woodbridge at the Lake", at Losco road and Old St Augustine, and I liked it. I still live in the same general area.

If my memory serves me correctly, I believe they renovated them recently, with new countertops etc. Some of the units are set up so that there aren't any shared walls. It is located in a busy area, so the traffic noise might be an issue.

You might also consider "St Augustine at the Lake", which is right next door on Old St Augustine Rd. They are adding more buildings to that complex, and it looks like it's more private with less traffic noise.

The same company owns both places, as well as Coopers Hawk and others, and I had no problems with them.

Their website is:
Mid-America Apartment Communities

I've heard spots like Bermuda Cove and Woodhollow (both on Hodges Blvd) are good. Both quiet spots from what I understand.

These are out near the intracoastal, so it may or may not be out of the way as far as work is concerned.

Our family is heading up North with our two young girls, moving into the Jax area in early 2016. We are unfamiliar with the area, and would really appreciate any additional info about what areas are high-crime areas to avoid, good schools, etc. We'll be students of UNF also, so any tips traffic wise would be great. Thank you for the info & your time!
