Some people are saying that the ammunition shortage is abating but the supplies are not there. Especially, for 45 ACP.

Shooter's is great regarding the availability but the cost of 45 ACP FMJ is $18, limit 1. I don't know how much Gun Gallery charges for practice rounds or defensive rounds.

Walmart is good if they carry ammo for your weapon but 45 ACP is sparse, too.

Any suggestions, aside from reloading (I don't have the time or patience), where to go?

Gander Mountain usually has a decent stock, but their prices are far from competitive. Bullseye always has a ton of Atlanta Arms ammo for sale in their range.
These days (especially for .45), the internet might be a good bet for you. ammoman.com is a decent site (although the layout is straight out of the 1990s). Check out jaxshooting.com while you're at it
