I think you don't understand the purpose. Many employers require that you take a drug test for employment. The ides behind this is that if you're on drugs, then you're not ready and willing to be hired, since you cannot be hired unless you pass a drug test.

It was a way of verifying that people are still able to be hired.

In all practicality, it's a waste of $$ and time. THey can't go around testing 3 million people regularly.

Not necessarily true anyway - I've never been drug tested for any position in the last 10 years I've been here.

Total waste of time and money

Sure, I'll leave Sen. Hatch a "sample", under one condition: that he along with the rest of Congress submit samples of their own. I bet the results of those tests would be very...enlightening.

Lots of "upper class" people collect UI Benefits too, when Republicans realize this, they'll stop drug testing.
