Taken civil service test before for city, school district and federal before. Like someone else stated most is common sense but there should be some accounting principals since it is an accounting job.
The federal govt does not ask for your age per se but it's a form you feel out at the time of applying usually. I think it's OF-306 Declaration for Federal Employment, and it does ask DOB. Not sure why they require it at the time of applying instead of once they make an offer. But yeah age is not an issue when applying for govt jobs. So all you 50 plus folks apply away!!

Well, tomorrow is the day, in the AM! Drove to downtown area, across from a college, where the exam will take place. A man said the exam will take 2 hours. My wife thought it would take 4 plus hours......sure glad she's wrong! She's been studying like a Pastor studying for a big, big sermon. She's tired now and will be really glad when this is all over......she can go back to her normal life! She will get an e-mail telling her how she done. She told me, that on the average, she is getting 70% on her some of her sample tests, but getting much higher on the "accounting" sample tests. The lady does know her math and Accounting......that is for sure!
We will see how it goes.

Only problem is, FDIC plans on hiring about 500 people! The job would be very close to us; about a mile away. Wife just doesn't really know what to expect from this test and, as I write this Thread, is studing from a couple of books she got at our local library. We were sort of stunned, because, when applying for the job, she had to state her age (62) and wasn't sure how that would affect her chances of even being considered.
I have no problem taking a Comptenancy Test as a pre-employment thing, but not this kind of test......oh no, no way!
Your thoughts?
Current government workers had to pass the test to get the job. Seeing as how incompetent our gov is I woudln't be worried about the test.
