I got an email from one of the recruiters for a gig that I've been dying to get and they were able to set up a telephone interview for tomorrow and I'm so excited and nervous! Does anyone have any good tips to share? I really want to wow them and get the job.

Not trying to be a downer but dont get to excited about interviews. They are going to have a lot more of them with other people in this economy. I was the same way until I had a few of them and then you dont hear a thing afterwords.

make sure you turn off everything that can be distracting in your house. Good luck and I am sure you will do fine.

I have one too. It's a recruiter from a company.

I would make sure you have your resume out in front of you. Lock yourself in a room and get rid of the pets, kids, spouse...etc. No distractions. Smile when you talk and most of all, be yourself. Good luck!

I know! It's really hard. I was shocked to get an email saying they wanted an initial phone interview. I blanketed the region with my resume and was just about to give up. I REALLY want and need this job but I have to keep the attitude that it's not that big of a deal because I think they know when you are desperate.

Let us know how it goes.

Well with a phone interview you have the advantage of keeping notes handy.

Also, it may sound silly but don't be sitting around in your bathrobe, get dressed almost like you would for an interview, it will get you in the state of mind for the interview.

Good luck!!!

Practice in front of a mirror and seain said, dress for the occasion. If you're in your bathrobe, chances are you'll act too laid back.

I would Google some possible interview questions and practice, practice, practice! My husband just had his first phone interview a week or so ago after trying for literally years to find a job in another state. The interview went very well and now he is preparing to go to the face to face next week. He has practiced his questions and looked up all the information he could find on the internet about the company. It's like studying for an exam.

Just relax and do your best. Good luck and let us know what happens!

Make the interviewer feel you are pleased to be talking to them

make sure you are standing up

let the interviewer do most of the talking

any questions you have about the company ask them through the interviewer
