Well, that's very subjective. 2 years in one job may be fine in one type of industry. In creative and computer tech sectors job hopping is not so stigmatized. In another, they may want 5 years to consider it "stable." Generation Y and X are both notorious for "job hopping." So if you get an interviewer who is in either group, it won't matter. It is all so damn relative today, especially in this economy. I wouldn't focus on what they write in their ads, word for word. I would just send them the resume, if you qualify otherwise. They will have to pick people from the pile of resumes they get. They are not going to get the Virgin Mary or Jesus in this economy so they will have to go by what they get in response. I agree, it does sound antiquated and just plain dumb as bricks, especially in this recession. Maybe they need to recruit from a convent if they want saintly people.
Oh really? Show us some proof to back up your claim. I'm part of that group and have been at the same company for years.
I am in that group and have job hopped a couple of times. Crappy economy + crappy companies will cause this. If companies decided to pay for loyalty (like, you know, give anybody a raise) then people wouldn't be as apt to switch jobs.
I don't need to show squat to nobody as we are not in front of judge and jury. You don't represent the entire group. People hop like crazy in New York City 'cos they can. There is plenty of stuff on the Internet to back this up, it's kind of common knowledge. Also plenty in the New York Times, CNN, etc. This isn't a small town. People job hop, people change careers all the time. That's life.
Oh yes YOU are.........any interviewer is your "judge and jury" weither you like it or not!! After the interview, they make the decision on hiring you or NOT......you don't!

watch out for mystique...she's quite volatile today for some reason. I don't think she has enough to do, you know with being unemployed and all.
You need to stop instigating. While I stay on this forum, I am faxing and emailing at the same time to lots of companies in NYC. It's called multi-tasking. When you assume...
Son, all I do is fax fax fax...email email email...so you talkin bout the wrong person.
clearly you are very green and young when it comes to life.

I want to know what you're smoking 'cos it's laced.
judge and jury...
What you're saying is elementary. We all know the employer has the upper hand. Duh.
They judge us, we as candidates judge if we want to work there or not. It goes both ways.
