Weeks after applying for a particular job, they recently e-mailed that they are pursuing other candidates and I'm no longer considered. However, they'll keep my resume on file. Goody, goody.
Been nearly a month (maybe more) since I applied.
Thankfully I'm racking up the months on my current job. I'm applying for better paying ones, but thankful for this one.
Anyway, for a few minutes that good old rejection thing stung like nobody's business, almost like it did when I was receiving my unemployment checks.
Is it normal to still feel like crap when yet another opportunity flies out the window (even though I'm working)?
I don't know if I want to pursue anything better now.

It depends. As a college graduate who has not been able to land even part time jobs(up until just recently), I've grown accustomed to being rejected and actually expect it to happen for full time jobs I apply to, and for others like part time in which I'm more than qualified, I first get mad since I know I'm more than qualified for the position and then I just think how the company is losing out on a great candidate and instead settling on a worse one.

You said "up until recently", so did you just recently get a PT job? If so, congratulations.

Anyway, I'm beginning to settle for what I have. If not for the pay, it would VERY much be a great job. Instead, it's a good one, considering the economy. I'll settle for that.

Hopefully a company will see your potential and hire you.

Thanks. It's still depressing though that for almost a year since graduation, not even Mcdonalds or Grocery Stores were giving me a call back. At least now this will pay for an internship that I have coming up. I guess it just goes to show how bad the economy when people are running for burger flipping, and that almost any job where you can make a living is something to be grateful for.

Don't take it personally. From talking to supervisors at my work place, there's a chance that your resume wasn't even looked at. It's really about luck and timing.
