So, I submitted my resume and cover letter online to Siemens. I copied and pasted my resume from MS word to the "your resume" section of the application. However, the spacing came out completely incorrect and the resume was in two different fonts - Arial and Times (and it is not that way in word). Has anyone else encountered this problem? For example, one space in between paragraphs on my cover letter, comes out to be two or no spaces on the application. I have even tried uploading a PDF version too.

I'm sooo frustrated, this or some variation of this happens almost every time I submit my resume and cover letter for a job. I would be very sad to not get a call back for a job because of a font or spacing issue that is essentially the fault of some companies application process! Also, I understand that this application process is outsourced for large companies.

Does anyone know if HR professionals see or know of this problem?

Save your MS Word document as a plain text document. Make sure to use "Save As" and don't overwrite your existing document. Copy and paste from this new document into the website textbox. The goal is to remove all the fonts and formatting from MS Word.

That still won't work. You need to create an ascii version of your resume without special formatting.
