Networking works over time, thankfully i think in my case that is about to pay off before long, but it takes time, and if you do not know anyone, or have a passion in anything where people are successful, I can really see why life gets to be hard to take.. It hasnt been easy for me the 9 months I've been laid off and done some temporary jobs in this timespan that are far from rewarding or anything pleasant
The interviews for me. I can easily get to the interview point. When I get there, I am asked very specific and deep questions about my field that I really don't work with directly every day in my current job. So I have to take some time to retrain myself to know how to answer these almost academic kind of questions instead of being asked about what really matters for my job.
I actually like interviews, probably because talking comes pretty easily to me - LOL. So I voted "submitting resumes," which should also include filling out online applications. It just gets SO tedious and repetitive after while, and I feel like I'm re-stating the same information over & over & over... sometimes multiple times within the same application! Many of the apps in my field also include "supplemental questions," basically asking for written responses to interview-type questions. I quickly learned to copy/save all of my answers, giving me a database of canned replies for the common topics.
I put other because I think it's psyching yourself up - for the resume writing, interviewing and the rest.
You first have to convince yourself why you are qualified and should be given a particular job before you can convince someone else. You have to look at yourself, and ask why would *you* hire you if you were looking for an employee.
If you've been laid off and getting depressed, that can be the hardest thing of all - if you feel inadequate, depressed, unemployable - well it can be hard to overcome.

Agreed 160%. Some online applications I dont even bother doing especially the ones that take like 2 hours to complete/ You wast all that time focusing on that 1 application instead of checking out 10 jobs in the spam of time.

I would say the emotional part. Getting rejected over and over takes a toll especially when you have bills to worry about and can't get unemployment.
