I am currently a teacher and have been for 5 years, but I think I'm going to look for a job in technology for next year. I'd love to work as a course designer for a university, or an administrator for an online learning platform. Even working at the university help desk by troubleshooting student computer issues would be a great job.
I have a BA in French and an MA in French language teaching. I am working on an MS in educational technology and will be finished in May.
When I was an undergraduate student, I worked for the Moodle team at my university. I helped students and instructors in person or over the phone with any issues they had using the platform. When I graduated, I worked for a call center helping customers troubleshoot their eBooks and other electronic educational products.
My main concern is that companies will see my two degrees in French and wonder why I'm looking for a job in a completely different field. However, I do have the technology experience. But my boss with Moodle came in from a completely different profession.
Anyone in the educational technology field? Any tips for job searching? How should I negotiate salary?
