I know it costs a company or agency money to do a "resume search" on Careerbuilder or Monster. I just posted a resume on another job website (for the city I live in) yesterday and can only hope that it will be seen and I get a call.

(Darn, cann't correct the Thread title. Should be "will it ever be looked at"......what is written sounds sort of illiterate, which I'm not!)
I am a truck driver and have gotten my current job off of career builder. I have also gotten a past job off of monster, also I've gotten a job of of craiglist. This is by me looking and by sending them my resume, not the other way around. The only thing I've gotten in the way of job offers is spam and insurance or sales. It's good to put your resume on there just so you can apply to places faster than normal. My resume is still on there though casue you never know. but..never post your resume on craigslist.

I have my resume on Monster and Careerbuilder. Helps out a lot when recruiters look at it and contact me for engineering jobs. But I also get spam for scam jobs and insurance sales.

I also have a custom website for my own resume website created using Dreamweaver CS5. I gives samples of my work and details more about me. I refer to it in cover letters and job applications, but so far I haven't gotten a job off of it.

Some do, it can't hurt, but I would go back old fashioned cold calling or sending a resume cover letter through the mail and call it a day.

I have a friend who got a great job in Northern Cali even though they wanted someone for Southern Cali. They paid for his relocation expenses and everything. I was so happy for him. This was last year. He put his resume on one of the job boards, but he doesn't remember which one. He was out of work for close to six months or so too and quite worried about finances, but he was far from broke.
