I am being flown out to LA by a very large company and was wondering if its likely that this will be a one round interview process rather then flying me back out again....
Offhand I would expect them to interview you all day, when I have flown out for interviews (it's been 20 years so my experience may no longer be valid) it was one trip, many interviews with several people, then get an offer (or turndown).
Would not make much sense to fly out a candidate more than once, IMHO. If you can't make up your mind you want to make an offer to a guy after seeing him one day all day, what are you going to do in the 2nd day to "catch up"?
Now if you were a high-level executive candidate, it might mean 2 trips. Never been one or had anything to do with that level.
I'd have to agree. Usually the face-to-face interviews are the final ones at a company. When I have been flown out for interviews, I have spent anywhere from 3-6 hours at the site interviewing with multiple people throughout the day. For the few very long ones (over 3-4 hours) usually there would also be lunch brought in or a few people may take me out to lunch.
In any event, be prepared for a lengthy day. You could always ask if they have an agenda for the interview that they can provide to you ahead of time so that you will have an idea as to how your day will go.
in addition to requesting the interview schedule you should ask about the interview process. When they provide the interview schedule it would be ideal if they explain each interviewers job title or job function - if they don't, go ahead and ask.
